Yvonne C. Wichmann, 84, of Palmer, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Libory’s Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Rev. Sidney Bruggeman will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church, with a 4 p.m. Rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Yvonne was born on March 15, 1937, at St. Libory, the daughter of Clarence A. and Mayme M. (Volkl) Arends. She grew up in the St. Libory area, attended St. Libory’s Parochial school and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1955.
She was united in marriage to John W. Wichmann on Feb. 14, 1956, at St. Libory’s Catholic Church. The couple farmed and operated a meat processing business on the family farm south of Palmer. Yvonne had also worked at Shopko in Grand Island and later for J & A Specialties in Grand Island.
She was a member of St. Libory’s Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and had served on the parish council. She was a member of CDA Court 2015 Sacred Heart of St. Paul and Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 of St. Paul.
Yvonne enjoyed baking, sewing, reading, gardening and having coffee with friends and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Marcia Wichmann of Central City, Kaylene and Tom Weller of Palmer and Keith and Kelly Wichmann of Palmer; three granddaughters and spouses, Angela and Bob Kosmicki of Palmer, Gabrielle and Scott Saltzgaber of Central City and Chloe and Chance Younger of Grand Island; four great-grandchildren, Kalen Weller, Kacie Kosmicki, Blaire Younger and Bowen Saltzgaber; sister, Rita Wichmann of St. Libory; and three brothers and spouses, LeRoy and Cathie Arends of Grand Island, Jim and Fran Arends of Grand Island and Dale and Carolyn Arends of St. Libory.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wichmann on Aug. 17, 2000; daughter, Monica Lynn Wichmann on Oct. 7, 1964; and grandson, Blaine Weller on Sept. 16, 1996.
