Viola E. Hefner, 95, of St. Libory, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Craig K. Niemeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Norwegian Cemetery northwest of Worms.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hefner was born on Jan 24, 1921, at St. Libory, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Noffke) Niemoth.
She received her education at Zion Lutheran Parochial School at Worms.
She was united in marriage to Orel “Bud” Hefner on Dec. 10, 1943, at Worms. The couple farmed northeast of St. Libory. Bud died on Oct. 5, 2010 and Viola had resided at the Grand Island Veterans Home the last six years of her life.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dale Hefner of St. Libory, Ron and Tracey Hefner of Archer and Dorothey “Dora” Hefner of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Dawn, Desi, Erin, Jason, Jennifer and Amanda; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bud, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lyle Hefner; a brother, Elton Niemoth; and a sister, Dorothy Hollowell.
