Victor L. “Vic” Tibbetts, 75, of Palmer, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora, surrounded by his family.
Visitation and reception will run concurrently on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Palmer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rev. Serena Samuel will offer words of comfort. A meal will be provided. The family requests casual attire.
Memorials are suggested to the Palmer Swimming Pool Fund, Palmer Fire Department/EMT’s or to family for later designation.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Vic was born on Feb. 10, 1949, the son of Edwin Charles “Chick” and Lucille (Lambert) Tibbetts.
Vic grew up on a farm near Palmer and attended Palmer Public Schools.
He was united in marriage to Linda S. Uleman on Nov. 23, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. The couple first lived on the Lambert Ranch, where Vic worked for his grandfather, Mark Lambert. The couple later moved into Palmer and he started farming and hunting, until his retirement in 2014.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Palmer and the Palmer Fire Department.
He was proud of being a dog handler for many years at the One Box Pheasant Hunt in Broken Bow.
In early years he enjoyed trapping and coyote hunting. Later in life he enjoyed goose hunting and deer hunting, having made numerous hunting trips to Canada. He enjoyed taking and teaching his granddaughters hunting, passing along his love to them. He also loved farming and spending time at the river.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Tibbetts of Palmer; children and spouses, Jacynda and Brian Henn of Phillips, Troy and Danielle Tibbetts of Palmer and Chad and Maria Tibbetts of Grand Island; 8 granddaughters, Saigen Tibbetts, Ashley and Blake Prohaska, Mikayla and Austin Stelk, Shayla Tibbetts, Hailey Tibbetts, Anna Tibbetts, Elle Tibbetts and Eva Tibbetts; 4 great grandsons, Greyson Stelk, Brixton Stelk, Paxton Stelk and Revel Prohaska and a great-granddaughter on the way; siblings, Karen Forbes of Palmer, Kevin Tibbetts of Grand Island and Kent and Patti Tibbetts of Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jim Gowlovech; great granddaughter, Baylor Faith Stelk; brother-in-law, John Forbes; and aunt, Lois Tibbetts.
