Ronald E. “Ron” Matheson, 73, of St. Libory, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at his home.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Bob Carlson will officiate. Flag presentation will be performed by Burton – Beyer American Legion Post 120 of Palmer.
Mr. Matheson was born on Oct. 11, 1943, at Laramie, Wyoming, the son of Roy and Evelyn (Wilkins) Matheson.
Ron grew up and received his elementary and high school education in Laramie and was a 1967 graduate of the University of Wyoming with a degree in Animal Husbandry.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 41st Civil Affairs from Jan. 1968 to Jan. 1970, earning a bronze star.
He was united in marriage to Sharon L. Kleinschmidt on May 29, 1970, at Laramie.
He and Sharon moved to St. Libory in 1978, where he lived the rest of his life. Ron worked for the U.S.D.A. Grading Service until his retirement in 2002.
He was very proud of his service in Vietnam.
He was a member of Burton – Beyer American Legion Post 120 of Palmer.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of St. Libory; children and spouses, Bryan and Dawn Matheson of Fredrick, CO, Christie and Rich Meehan of Tarzana, CA, and Cory Matheson of Grand Island; four grandchildren, Brandon Matheson, Ryan Matheson, Skylar Meehan and Sienna Meehan; one brother, Murdock Matheson of Laramie, WY; two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
