Robert E. Wagner, 89, of North Loup, formerly of St. Paul, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Mr. Wagner chose to be cremated and have no funeral service. Inurnment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, at a later date.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wagner was born on Nov. 17, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was united in marriage to Elsie Klingenberg on Sept. 20, 1947, in Grand Island.
She and a son, David Wagner preceded him in death.
He is survived by two grandchildren; several nieces; and his friend and caregiver, Louis Kush of North Loup.
Robert was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. Over the years, Robert had lived in various communities in Central Nebraska.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
