Rita M. Budzinski, 95, of St. Paul, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Ray Kosmicki will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Rita was born on May 10, 1921, on the family farm southeast of Ashton, the daughter of John and Mary (Jasnoch) Peters.
She attended Sherman County rural schools and grew up helping her parents on the farm. She later worked at a factory in Omaha for a brief time.
She was united in marriage to Edwin J. Budzinski on Nov. 17, 1944 at Ashton. The couple farmed in the Ashton, Loup City and Ravenna areas before moving into Loup City. In 1961, they moved to a farm near St. Paul and in 1966 moved into St. Paul.
Edwin died on July 11, 1980. Rita continued to live in St. Paul where she resided at Parkside Annex, Heritage Living Center and finally Brookefield Park.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, puzzles and loved playing BINGO.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, David Budzinski of Lincoln, Mike and Sandy Budzinski of Lincoln and Paul Budzinski of Lincoln; and one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jeff Friedrichsen of Palmer; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Stobbe of Grand Island.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard “Dick” Budzinski; grandson, Jeff Budzinski; great-grandson, Lane Budzinski; an infant brother; and five sisters, Alberta Rogers, Isabelle Jakubowski, Virginia Lenhart, Roma Vincent and Lily Dell Stobbe.
Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Medical Center.
