Richard was born on May 12, 1934, in Waukegan, IL to Philip L. Stewart and Victoria Herro.
Richard or “Al”, was born in the middle of the great depression and in a mafia hotbed, to a “single mom”. Thank you, Ancestry, and 23 & Me, for allowing the truth to be discovered. Turned out that Al’s birth father, unknown to him, was not dead but instead had four families and also unknown to Al, many half siblings. As a child, Al lived in the Chicago vicinity, in North Carolina, in Loveland CO, and graduated high school from Lewis School, in Palmer Lake, CO. With Colorado his new and final home, he joined the Air Force in 1953 and by May of 1955 he started his own business, and began learning real estate with his mother’s guidance. In 1959, at a dance, he met the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Al and Graceann Keating were married 58 years, till her passing in 2018.
Al was a man of his many cities and eras. He was soft hearted, devoted and full of flaws. Enduring, maddening and loveable. To know him you knew of cigars, hootch, the joy of song and his special talent of “B.S.”. The ‘Ol Duke of Tennyson Street was never at a loss for words, stories or inappropriate banter. He was persistent at faith and his business and the best father and husband he knew how to be. Things are never as perfect as one hopes but there is something about embracing the person you are.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Graceann and adored son, Theodore, his mother Victoria and step-father Welcome Morgan.
Survivors include: daughter and son in law, Victoria and Douglas Loghry of Sidney, NE; Grandchildren, Nicholas Ross (fiancé Olivia Nesja) of Colorado Springs, CO, Cassy Ross of Lincoln, NE; Step Granddaughters, Jayma Smay and Katie Montes.
