Peggy I. Nealon, 89, of Wolbach, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Vicar Abigail Vetick will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Hillside Cemetery or Rose Lane Home.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Peggy was born on Oct. 8, 1934, on a farm north of Wolbach, the daughter of Albert and Hattie (Micheel) Klein. She received her education at Wolbach Public Schools and was a 1952 graduate of Wolbach High School. She then attended UN-L where she received a teaching certificate.
She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and best friend, Robert D. “Sonny” Nealon on May 20, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The couple first lived in Detroit for several years before returning to Wolbach, where they lived the rest of their married life and raised their four children.
Peggy taught at the Wagner Country School near Wolbach and then taught at the Wolbach Head Start for 17 years before retiring. She then worked as the church secretary at Trinty Lutheran for a number of years.
Sonny passed away on April 19, 2015, and she continued to live in Wolbach until moving to Rose Lane Home in the Fall of 2023.
She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she also sang in the church choir, and was also a member of the Wolbach Community Club, the Town & Country Club and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 236 of Wolbach.
Peggy enjoyed traveling, casino trips, photography (she never threw any old photos or negatives away!), baking cinnamon rolls and spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Robert D. “Rob” Nealon, Jr. of Wolbach, Dan and Kathy Nealon of Lincoln, Lori and Dewey Dilsaver of Wolbach, and Jeff Nealon of Kearney; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Amalee Nealon, Ryan and Adele Nealon, Andy Nealon and fiancée, Laura McCullagh, Ashley Tamayo, Kelsey and Jono Schwenka, Robert and Robbie Newsham and Nick Newsham; two step-grandchildren, Amy Carlsen and Kara Stevens; nine great grandchildren, Karsen Nealon, Knixon Tamayo, Harper Newsham, Hudson Newsham, Tia Nealon, Rayna Nealon, Jasper Nealon, Axel Nealon and Bryson Nealon; and two step great grandchildren, Erin and Aoife McCullagh and another on the way; brother-in-law, Joe and Nancy Nealon of Red Oak, IA; special cousin, Lila Studley of Wolbach; and dear friend, Janey Jacobsen.
In addition to her husband, Sonny, she was preceded in death by her parents; in laws, Joseph and Mildred Nealon; brother-in-law, Patrick Nealon; nephews, Shay and Sean Nealon; and great-nephew, Cole Nealon.
