Naomi Corrinne Schipman

Naomi C. Schipman, 70, of Worms, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center in Grand Island.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Craig Niemeier will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Worms.

Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 5 to 7 p.m.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Naomi was born on May 24, 1953, in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Robert M. and Marcella M. (Riley) Carpenter. She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1971. In June of 1971, she met Albert R. Schipman while he was serving in the United States Navy.

Her and Albert were united in marriage on May 14, 1972, at Winterhaven, CA. In 1973, the couple moved to Worms, where they raised their two children, Jeff and Corrie. 

Naomi studied nursing in college and worked in the medical field for 22 years as an ICU Monitor Tech in Grand Island at St. Francis Medical Center until her retirement.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms where she was involved in church activities and various groups. She also served a number of years for the Palmer EMT’s.

Naomi enjoyed reading, camping, traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Albert of Worms; children and spouses, Jeff and Dawn Schipman of Omaha and Corrie and Kevin Pool of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Jordan Jelinek of Hampton and Kristi and Jared Merchant of Glendale, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Peggy Mealing and Pamela Taylor; and two brothers, Bruce Carpenter and David Carpenter; and her two beloved cats, Cuddles and Wuddles.
