Mary Ann (Volkl) Fecht, 52, of Dannebrog, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran – Nysted St. Peder's Church. The Rev. Bob Carlson will officiate.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Ann was born on June 10, 1963, at St. Paul, the daughter of Earl J. and Beverly J. (Fries) Volkl.
She grew up in St. Libory where her family lived and she attended St. Libory District 118. In 1979, the family moved to St. Paul and Mary Ann graduated from St. Paul High School in 1981. She then attended Central Community College in Grand Island.
Over the years she was employed at the Grand Island Veterans Home, Greeley Care Home, Mosaic and Mid Nebraska Individual Services.
She was married to Terry J. Fecht on June 20, 1998, at Dannebrog. The couple continued to live in Dannebrog the rest of their married lives.
Mary Ann was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dannebrog.
She enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandchildren and loved her dog, Rossi.
She is survived by her husband, Terry of Dannebrog; a son, Anthony Volkl of San Antonio, TX; step daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Michael Baldwin of Lincoln; step-son and friend, Peter Fecht and Sassy Waite of Grand Island; sister, Rose Volkl of Grand Island; brother-in-law, Paul Piontkowski of Phillips; mother-in-law, Retha Fecht of Ansley; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Volkl; sister, Shirley Piontkowski; grandparents, John and Martha Volkl and Harry and Alice Fries; and father-in-law, Leland Fecht.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family.
