Mary H. Guzinski, 91, of Loup City, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Marty L. Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Guzinski was born on Aug. 11, 1919, on the family farm near Ashton, the daughter of John and Victoria (Kurtz) Kuffel. She was united in marriage to Alonzo F. Guzinski on Aug. 4, 1947, at Ashton. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2010. She was also preceded by her son, Richard P. “Rich” Guzinski. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Beverly Guzinski of Tekamah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Sam Kuszak and Marge and Corwin Bauhard, all of Loup City; and two sisters, Gertie Kuszak of North Loup and Jean Pilakowski of Portland, OR. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter that was born on Tuesday, shortly before Mary passed. Mary grew up on the family farm and attended Sherman County rural schools. Mary and Alonzo made their home in Loup City their entire married life. She cleaned homes for many Loup City families, as well as, the ASCS office, telephone company office and cleaned the Sherman County Bank for 31 years. She moved to Rose Lane Home in Dec. 2006, where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, its Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Sodality. Mary lived a very simple life and loved to cook and bake. She made the best cinnamon rolls and bread and was well known for her fried chicken, which she fried for many local celebrations, activities and private parties. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ben Kuffel; and a sister, Betty Kuszak. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
