Marjorie A. “Marge” Jerabek, 78, of Farwell, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The Revs. Rayappa Konka, Richard Piontkowski and Thomas Ryan and Deacons Neil Baquet and Randy Lewandowski will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery near Farwell.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. parish rosary.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Marge was born on Nov. 14, 1940, at Columbus, the daughter of Louis and Victoria (Miller) Zimmer.
She grew up on a farm near Fullerton where she attended country school and later graduated from Fullerton High School in 1958. She then worked as a telephone operator in Grand Island and attended cosmetology school.
She was united in marriage to Carl L. Jerabek on Aug. 17, 1963, in Fullerton. The couple lived and farmed west of Farwell their entire married life. Over the years she also worked as a cosmetologist in the area, as a nurses aide at the Howard County Medical Center and later at the St. Paul Community Senior Center.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association of Farwell.
Marge enjoyed painting, cake decorating and tending to her flowers. She also loved collecting giraffes and attending the activities of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Jerabek of Farwell; children, Rick Jerabek and Jana Hoff of Ashton, Chad and Caitlin Jerabek of Farwell, Jamie and Cindy Jerabek of Frisco, TX and Andrea Jerabek of Omaha; 6 grandchildren, Emily and Vincent Christensen of St. Paul, Dalton, Ahna and Maverick Jerabek of Farwell and Avery and Paxton Jerabek of Frisco, TX; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Tatum Christensen of St. Paul; brothers, John Zimmer of Columbus, Emil Zimmer of Fullerton and Louie and Holly Zimmer of Fullerton; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Jerabek of Farwell and Odelia Rogers of Davenport, IA; brother-in-law, Kenneth Schroeder of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Schroeder; in-laws, Anton and Josephine Jerabek; brother-in-law, Aaron Jerabek; sister-in-law and husband, Virginia and Junior Hansen; nieces, Brenda Kolar and Kristi Zimmer; and great nephew, Jonathan Jerabek.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials to the family for later designation.
