Mrs. Iwanski was born on October 24, 1926, in Spalding, the daughter of Andrew and Josephine (Maier) Ringlein. She grew up in Spalding where she received her education and graduated from Spalding High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Dallas R. Iwanski on May 7, 1945, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The couple initially lived in Kansas where Dallas drove a petroleum truck for Hill Oil Company. They later moved to St. Paul where they operated Iwanski's Garage. Marie kept the books for the family business and made many trips to Grand Island to purchase and pick up parts for the necessary car and tractor repairs. Marie also kept the books for the family combine business during the harvest season. Dallas died on August 29, 1992. Beginning in 1992 and until 2010, she operated her own cleaning business, cleaning many of the homes and businesses of St. Paul, including the City office building. As St. Paul was her home for 70 years, she enjoyed visiting with her many friends and loved spending time with family. Marie enjoyed deer hunting with Dallas on their river property South of St. Paul. She obtained her first deer permit in 1971 and continued hunting until 2010, at the age of 83. She never failed to miss her shot with the lever-action Savage rifle that had the stock cut to fit her tiny frame. Marie was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a choir member for many years. She is survived by her children, Michela (Iwanski) West of West Des Moines, Iowa and Terry Iwanski and his spouse, Pedo Rupa of Tucson, AZ; and a brother, John Ringlein of Lincoln. She is also survived by five grandchildren and spouses, Jeff Iwanski and wife, Deb Grudzinski-Iwanski, Corina Iwanski Chadwick and husband, Joshua Chadwick, Megan West, Sarah West and partner, Tony Robben, and Jacqueline Goodwin; seven great-grandchildren, Michela, Carley, Quinten, Andrew, Jayasia, Jadyn and Matt; and three great-great-grandchildren, Larry, Charles and Aurora; and her former daughter-in-law, Sharon Albertson of Grand Island. In addition to her husband, Dallas, she was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Josephine Ringlein; three brothers, Louis Ringlein, Cletus Ringlein and Clarence Ringlein; and a sister, Frances Hinze. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
