Lonnie Lee Wilson

Lonnie L. Wilson, 74, of Elba, died Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society – Grand Island Village.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elba. The Rev. Rayappa Konka will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Elba.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church with a 7 p.m. Rosary. The family requests that casual attire be worn at the visitation and funeral.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation

Lonnie Lee Wilson was born on Sept. 25, 1946, at St. Paul, the son of Silvester A. “Bud” and Lillian E. (Kaminski) Wilson. Lonnie grew up on a farm in the Nysted area and attended school in Dannebrog. He was a 1967 graduate of Dannebrog High School.

He worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant in Grand Island. He eventually moved to Grand Island and worked at Delicious Foods for 30 plus years until his retirement. He later returned to live in Elba to be closer to his family.

While living in Grand Island, Lonnie was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church while living in Elba.

Lonnie loved sports of all kinds and especially, watching his nieces and nephews participate, as they were growing up. He loved scratch tickets, attending the horseraces and watching his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.

He is survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Wilson and Tamy and Anton Morrow, all of Elba; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Wilson, Cindy Wilson, Rodney Wilson and Richard and Patty Wilson, all of Elba; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Lillian Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Agnes Wilson; and brother, Kenny Wilson.
