Larry H. Koperski, 69, of Farwell, died unexpectedly, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery near Farwell, with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Koperski was born on May 22, 1947, at St. Paul, the son of Harry F. and Delores M. (Piontkowski) Koperski.
Larry grew up on the family farm southwest of Farwell and attended Farwell Public School and graduated from Farwell High School in 1965.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969. After his discharge he returned to farm near Farwell.
He was united in marriage to Joan M. Dembowski on June 27, 1970, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The couple first lived in St. Paul, later moving to the Midway area west of St. Paul. In 1976, the couple moved southwest of Farwell. Larry farmed for many years and was also currently working for LaCosta Cleaning at Case New Holland in Grand Island.
Larry enjoyed gun shows, antiquing, attending livestock sales, horses and raising cattle. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Farwell; his children and spouses, Cathy and Rod Galvan of Grand Island, Tim Koperski of Farwell, Tom and Nunzy Koperski of Farwell and Cindy Koperski and Jenny Kaup of Omaha; seven grandchildren, Amanda and Brett McIntosh of Grand Island, Andrew Galvan of Grand Island, Abbey and Ethan Bloomquist of Grand Island, Lane Koperski of Hastings, Toby Koperski of Farwell, Weston Koperski of Farwell and Delores Koperski of Farwell; his mother-in-law, Mary Mostek of Grand Island; and five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Mary Dembowski of Omaha, Joe and Connie Dembowski of Grand Island, John and Theresa Dembowski of Axtell, Shiron and Pete Johansen of Loup City and Val and Tony Papst of Farwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Virgil Dembowski.
