Larry G. Jepson

Larry G. Jepson, 81, of St. Paul, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, peacefully at his home.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Steven Neal will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. The family requests casual attire.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the family for later designation.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Larry was born Sept. 2, 1939, at Cushing, the son of Orval and Mae (Luddington) Jepson. He was raised in Cushing and moved to St. Paul with his family in 1954. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1957.

He was united in marriage to Anita M. McLain on June 21, 1959, in St. Paul. The couple first lived in Grand Island where Larry worked for Roberts Dairy for 11 years. The couple moved back to St. Paul in 1966 and he continued to run the milk route until 1972. At that time, he and Anita purchased the Circle J Drive-In from Larry’s parents. They ran the drive-in for 19 ½ years, selling the business on Oct. 1, 1991. Larry also drove school bus for St. Paul Public Schools for a number of years.

In April 1993, Larry became the manager of the clubhouse of the St. Paul Country Club. He also worked for the St. Paul Senior Center as a Handi Bus driver from July 1998 until he retired in Oct. 2002.

Larry was a baptized and charter member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to read and watch Westerns on television. He was a great conversationalist and enjoyed stopping to visit with friends. His family meant the world to him and he was always there for all of them. If any of the grandchildren had a sporting event, you would find him there.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita of St. Paul; children and spouses, Terry and Lori Jepson of Grand Island, Todd Jepson of Grand Island and Lori and Dwayne Maddox of St. Paul; seven grandchildren, Nicole and Quentin Miller of Kearney, Jeremy Jepson of Wood River, Tiffani Jepson of Wood River, Melissa Jepson and fiancé, Russell Huntley of St. Libory, Justin Maddox and fiancé, Brittany Weber of Palmer, Dr. Derek Maddox of Lincoln and Tanner Maddox of UNK-Kearney; and ten great grandchildren, Lexy, Devin, Brayden, Madi, Landon, Ryan, Bodie, Paisley, Braelynn and Blaze; sister, Bonnie Hansen of Kearney; and sister-in-law, Arlene Jepson of Grand Island; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Rod Creathbaum of Sierra Vista, AZ and Jan Skala of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Jepson; sister, JoAnn Roberts; brother-in-law, Merv Hansen; and brother-in-law, Roger Skala.
