Kristine “Kris” A. Curlo, 50, of Boelus, NE, died unexpectedly Monday, August, 5, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be Friday, August 9, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, in Loup City, NE. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, at Ashton, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2013, from 5 – 7 p.m. at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Peters Funeral Home is assisting the family. Kris was born January 4, 1963, in Loup City, NE, the eighth of ten children, of Hubert S. “Kuba” and Frances “Franny” (Czarnek) Stobbe. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Donnie Curlo of Boelus, NE Three sons and two daughters-in-law, Josh Blake of Lincoln, NE Brian and Andrea Curlo of Hastings, NE Kevin and Elizabeth Curlo of Ashton, NE Three daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela Blake of Omaha, NE Brandi and Doug DeKay of Wood River, NE Kari and Karl Jorgensen of Farwell, NE Three sisters and a brother-in-law, Patsy Moraczewski of Pueblo, CO Mary Stobbe of Grand Island, NE Geralyn and Ron Carruth of Strafford, NH Six brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tom Stobbe of Lexington, NE Chuck Stobbe of Las Vegas, NV Duane Stobbe of Plainview, NE Billy and Rose Stobbe of Grand Island, NE Tony Stobbe of Ashton, NE Jeff and Clara Stobbe of Ashton, NE Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Michael and Alex DeKay, Shelby Curlo, Janessa, Hailey and Logan Jorgensen. Kris grew up on the family farm near Ashton. She graduated from Loup City High School in 1981. She married Howard Blake on November 14, 1981, at Paplin, NE. They lived in Loup City. Kris married Donnie Curlo on December 10, 1994, at their farm near Boelus, NE, surrounded by their family and friends. They lived on their farm and Kris worked at Menards, for over 10 years, as manager of the millwork department and at the time of her death was in shipping and receiving. Kris loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, canning, summer tractor pulls and polka music, especially the Urkoski Polka Band. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton, NE, its Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers the family is establishing a memorial in Kris’ name. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert “Kuba” and Frances “Franny” Stobbe, Brad Kuhl and Jennifer Curlo.
