Julie Ann Stevenson, 50, of Rockville, died Saturday, June 3, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Ray Kosmicki will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Souleville Cemetery near Boelus.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Julie was born on Aug. 1, 1966, in St. Paul, the daughter of Frank and Sharon (Goc) Koperski. She grew up on the family farm near Farwell and attended grade school in Farwell and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1984.
She was united in marriage to John M. Stevenson on May 24, 1986, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The couple farmed near Rockville and she held various jobs over the years. She had worked at Skyline Cafe and Wheelers in St. Paul and Menards, Sam's Club, helped with construction at St. Francis Medical Center and at the HyVee Gas Station, all in Grand Island. She was currently working for Centura Public School.
Julie was baptized in the Catholic faith. She also served on the Howard County 4-H Council for many years, having served as secretary and president.
Julie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always a person that would help anyone in need. She enjoyed watching her children play baseball and show animals in 4-H and FFA. She also loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed camping, boating, taking trips, collecting cookbooks and she was a excellent cook.
She is survived by her husband, John of Rockville; two sons and daughters-in-law and her grandchildren, Johnathan and Blaine Stevenson, Jaxton and Jonna of Boelus, and Jamie and Tiffany Stevenson, Tatum and baby boy due in September of Cairo; her parents, Frank and Sharon Koperski of Farwell; her siblings, Jim and Leana Koperski of Farwell, Jerry and Misty Koperski of Grand Island, Janis Koperski and Delbert Fielder of Hastings, Jeff and Jennifer Koperski of St. Paul and Dennis Koperski of Dannebrog; and numerous nieces nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Denise Koperski; in-laws, Duane and Loretta Stevenson; John's infant sister, Peggy Lee Stevenson; and grandparents, Andrew and Evangeline Goc and Frank and Vernie Koperski.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and plants, that memorials be given to the family's choice.
