Josh was born on March 10, 2004, in Grand Island, the son of Marshall W. and Jamie M. (Hancock) Roesler. He grew up in the St. Paul and Elba areas. From the very beginning, Josh lived by his own rules. He played every day from sun up to sundown with the neighborhood kids, riding bikes, building forts and found his first love for riding go-karts, which he rode in circles for hours in his parents’ front yard. Josh was a very inquisitive kid and could tear anything apart and put it back together, usually in the garage with his dad. He was turning wrenches from a very early age. He attended St. Paul Public Schools and graduated from Elba High School in 2022. During high school, he worked for Smith Welding, which led to his vision for creativity and how to fix things.
After graduating he immediately entered the work force. He worked for Circle C Ag in Elba as an Irrigation Pivot Technician and was still employed there at the time of his death.
As Josh grew older, he fell in love with fishing and hunting, waiting for hours for “the big one”, with his grandpa Don. He also developed a love for dove and goose hunting with his friends and riding dirt bikes. He played little league baseball, but in kindergarten he found his real passion for wrestling. His hard work on the wrestling mat is where he taught himself to work hard and count on himself, never giving up. His family said he always lived life in the fast lane. He enjoyed hanging out with his many friends and loved with his big heart, which people would never see in a large group. Josh was more of a one-on-one type of guy.
He is survived by his parents, Marshall and Jamie Roesler of Elba; two brothers, Joseph Roesler of St. Paul and his girlfriend, Leslie Nichols of Bartlett and Heustyn Roesler of Elba; grandparents, Don and Jean Hancock of St. Paul; uncle and aunt, Steve and Kassie Hancock and cousins, Emersen and Jarret Hancock, all of St. Paul; great aunt and uncle, Ronda and Paul Barker of Grand Island; aunt, Roberta Teeter of Central City and cousins, Jason and Christa Barker and family of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Roesler; and great-grandparents, Ronald and Betty Beck, Jake and Inez Hancock, Keith and Ruth Joyce, and Arnold and Jean Roesler.
