Joan R. “Joani” Stanczyk, 57, of Ashton, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Private family graveside services will follow the Mass in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Ashton.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. recitation of the Rosary. All CDC guidelines will be followed in regards to social distancing and face masks will be required for the visitation, Rosary and Mass. Seating will be limited for the Rosary and Mass, so attending the visitation is highly recommended by the family and funeral home.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Joani was born on July 7, 1963, at St. Paul, the daughter of Aaron J. and JoAnn M. (Runge) Jerabek. She grew up on the family farm west of Farwell and attended school in Farwell and later graduated from St. Paul High School in 1981.
She was united in marriage to Bryan J. Stanczyk on July 20, 1985, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. They had three children, Jonathan, Cole and Jaci.
They lived in rural Ashton until 1998, when they moved into Ashton. She worked at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul and in 1994, she and Bryan purchased a local repair shop in Ashton where she worked. She later worked as a bartender and cook in Ashton and most recently working for the U.S. Postal Service.
Joani was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and was a volunteer EMT for the Ashton Fire Department.
She enjoyed visiting with people, gardening, reading and spending time with her family and granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Bryan Stanczyk of Ashton; son, Cole Stanczyk of St. Paul; daughter, Jaci Stanczyk and Dylan Lieb of Ashton; granddaughters, Karlie Rae and Isabelle Marie Vieth of St. Paul; mother, JoAnn Jerabek of Farwell; siblings and spouses, Theresa and Steve Bader and Lori and Tim Fredrick, all of Palmer, Connie Jo and Frank Beck and Michele and Doug Oeltjen, all of St. Paul, Nick Jerabek and Jackie Ziegler of Farwell.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Jerabek; her father, Aaron Jerabek; and her sister, Brenda Kolar.
She now begins her after life with her dearly missed son, father and sister.
