Jeanine M. Wojtalewicz, 87, of St. Paul, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Ray Kosmicki will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church, with a 5 p.m. vigil service.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Jeanine was born on June 2, 1929, at St. Paul, the daughter of Albert and Christina (Rasmussen) Jensen.
She grew up on a farm near Cushing, where she attended District 42 rural school and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1947.
She was united in marriage to Lavern F. Wojtalewicz on Sept. 29, 1947, at Farwell. The couple first lived in Farwell until the 1950's when they moved to Central City, where Jeanine worked for the telephone company. They later moved to a farm north of Central City, where they farmed until 1963. At that time they moved to a farm west of St. Paul where they farmed until their retirement. Jeanine also worked for Swinarski Pharmacy in St. Paul for many years.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Daughters of America Sacred Heart Court 2015, and “Just Us Girls” extension club, all of St. Paul.
Jeanine enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and attending her sons and grandchildrens sports and school activities.
She is survived by her husband, Lavern of St. Paul; children and spouses, Jerry and Vicki Wojtalewicz of Omaha, Todd and Kendra Wojtalewicz of St. Paul and Jeanette and Denny Santin of Grand Island; eight grandchildren and spouses, Amy Mancini of Denver, Jennifer and Bryan Dubas of Fullerton, Alexis Santin of Washington DC, Allison and Thomas Raetz of Omaha, Erin and Justin Loehr of Omaha, Cole Wojtalewicz of St. Paul, Trey Wojtalewicz of Lincoln and Kyla Wojtalewicz of Lincoln; eight great grandchildren, Peyton, Griffin and Remi Mancini, Tori and Cheyenne Ostrander, Dana Dubas, and Cooper and Charlotte Raetz; one sister, Dorothy Throop of Grand Island; and one sister-in-law, Donna Jensen of St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard L. “Dick” Wojtalewicz; grandson, Adam Wojtalewicz; brothers, Norvin Jensen and Leelon Jensen; and sisters, Evelyn Panowicz, Arlene Petersen, LaFerne Lukasiewicz and an infant sister, Eleanor Jensen.
