Jeanette M. Koperski, 80, of Farwell, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. The Rev. Sidney B. Bruggeman will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery near Farwell.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. vigil service at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Mrs. Koperski was born on Dec. 20, 1929, on a farm near Loup City, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Kosmicki) Palu.
She is survived by one son, Terrance Koperski of Omaha; two daughters, Belinda Hassler of Farwell and Kathleen Koperski of Omaha; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Kathy Palu of Missouri, Robert and Maggie Palu of South Dakota and Larry and Margaret Palu of Grand Island.
She also leaves to cherish her memory, three grandchildren, Kelly Hassler and his wife, Tammy and Matthew Hassler, all of Grand Island, and Jennifer Hassler of Farwell; and four great-grandchildren, Anna Marie, Teresa Marie, Johnathon Ray and Veronica Marie Hassler, all of Grand Island.
Jeanette grew up at Loup City where she attended Loup City Public Schools and graduated from Loup City High School.
She was united in marriage to Emil E. Koperski on April 18, 1950, at Loup City. The couple first farmed near Farwell. In 1956, they moved to Omaha where she had a varied working career. In Oct. 1987, after they retired, the couple returned to Farwell. Emil died on April 24, 1988 and Jeanette continued to live in Farwell the rest of her life.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
She enjoyed bird watching, reading, and playing scrabble, other board games and cards.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald Koperski; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Marcella Palu.
