Jane Carol Kurz, 75, of rural Palmer, died unexpectedly, Friday, March 1, 2024, at her home.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Craig Niemeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Worms.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Jane was born on Dec. 11, 1948, at Aurora, the daughter of Albert and Gladys (Nelsen) Grigsby. She grew up on an acreage near Central City. She received her education at Marquette Public Schools and graduated from Marquette High School in 1967. She then worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant at Grand Island to save up money to go to a business college in Omaha. She then returned to the area and worked at the Central City Dairy Queen and at the First State Bank in Hordville.
She was united in marriage to Dalbert K. Kurz on Jan. 9, 1972, at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Palmer and she also worked at the St. Paul National Bank in St. Paul. After the birth of her youngest son, she became a stay-at-home mom, raising her three sons. She later went back into the banking business, working at Five Points Bank in Grand Island for 30 years, retiring in the Fall of 2023.
Jane was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was involved in a Bible Study Group.
She enjoyed crocheting and attending school activities of her sons and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Dalbert Kurz of Palmer; three sons, Devon Kurz of Fullerton, Lance and Andrea Kurz of Fullerton, and Jason and Erin Kurz of McKinney, TX; 11 grandchildren, Leslie, Sierra, Conner and Ashley, Emilyn, Brecklyn, Braylon, Keelyn, Carleigh, Quinn, Evelynn and John; and two great-granddaughters on the way, Addison and Ellison; one sister, Joyce and Tom Collingham of Aurora; and her mother-in-law, Evelyn Kurz of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Judy and Jim Moore; and her father-in-law, Albert Kurz.
