James C. “Jim” Everett, Jr., 84, of Grand Island, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center in Grand Island.
Jim chose to be cremated. He and his wife, Joyce will be inurned in the Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, Kansas at a later date.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting his family.

Jim was born on July 11, 1940, at St. Lawrence, South Dakota, the son of James C. and Clarice A. (Cook) Everett, Sr.
Jim grew up in various communities, including: West Point, Central City, St. Paul and Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he was a 1958 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962, with three of those years served in Japan.
He was united in marriage to Joyce K. Dorman on Sept. 28, 1963, in Minneapolis, Kansas. The couple lived in Winner, South Dakota, St. Paul, Grand Island, Omaha and various places in Iowa.
In 1970, the family moved to Grand Island, where Jim was instrumental in opening Five Points Bank. In 1976, the family moved to St. Paul where they operated his father’s liquor store for 3 years and owned and operated St. Paul Auto Sales and the St. Paul Dry Cleaners.
In the early 90’s the couple moved to a home on the river near Dannebrog. In 2010, they sold the acreage and moved to Central City. In April 1, 2024, the couple moved to The Heritage at Sagewood in Grand Island.
Jim loved cars and pets, attending his sons’ and later his granddaughters’ school activities, and socializing and visiting his friends.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Shelly Everett of Lincoln and Bret and Cathy Everett of Fort Worth, Texas; and two granddaughters, Payton Everett of Omaha and Madelyn Everett of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce on April 22, 2024; his parents; step mother, Maggie Everett; and siblings, Don, Sharon and Nancy.
