Mr. Lukasiewicz was born on Oct. 26, 1922, at Farwell, the son of Alois and Wanda (Lorkowski) Lukasiewicz.
He was united in marriage to LaFerne E. Jensen on Aug. 29, 1945, in Farwell. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2012.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Sue, Donald and DeEtte and Brian and Audrey, all of St. Paul; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Ivan grew up and received his education in the Farwell area. He then farmed as a young man with his father.
After his marriage to LaFerne, the couple moved to Omaha where he worked at a grain elevator and as a welder. They later moved to Giltner. In 1964, they moved to a farm north of St. Paul where they farmed for many years.
He was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1918 and Farmers Union. He was a former member of the Platt Duetsche and Eagles of Grand Island. He had also served as a Howard County Commissioner.
Ivan enjoyed old tractors, overhauling old gas engines and playing cards and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edwin Lukasiewicz; and two sisters, Leona Wissbaum and Gertrude Galligani.
Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or the Howard County Medical Center Foundation.
