Colonel Gerald L. Killinger, 78, of St. Paul, died Friday, May 26, 2017, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Ray Kosmicki will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Gerald was born on May 31, 1938, at Palmer, the son of Earl J. and Norma B. (Zimmerle) Killinger.
He was a 1955 graduate of Wolbach High School.
He was united in marriage to Mary Colleen McIntyre on June 6, 1959, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wolbach. The couple were blessed with four children, Donald, Mary Kathleen, Joseph and Rosemary.
Gerald and Colleen farmed in Greeley and Howard Counties for a number of years. Gerald graduated from the Missouri School of Auctioneering in 1971. Soon after he began working for John T. Ryan in Greeley and at the Spalding Livestock Barn in Spalding..
In 1977, Gerald and Colleen started Killinger Auction and Real Estate Inc. in St. Paul, which they operated for many years.
He was a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wolbach and Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. He was also a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1918 of St. Paul and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly No. 1712 of Loup City. Gerald was a member and past President of the Nebraska Auctioneer Association.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Killinger of St. Paul; children, Mary Kathleen Quinn of Omaha, Joseph Killinger of Santa Monica, CA and Rosemary Wichmann of St. Paul; four grandchildren, Jerrid and Shantell Wichmann of Kenesaw, Daniel Quinn of Dallas, TX, Christopher Quinn of Omaha and Sarah Wichmann of St. Paul; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Sue Killinger of Wolbach, Eugene and Valerie Killinger of St. Paul and Dan Killinger of Omaha; his mother-in-law, Mary McIntyre of St. Paul; and Colleen's siblings and spouses, Mike and Sandra McIntyre of St. Paul, Dan and Barb McIntyre of St. Paul and Tim and Barb McIntyre of Greeley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Donald Joseph Killinger; and two brothers, Wayne E. Killinger and John Dean Killinger; and his father-in-law, Oren McIntyre.
