Eleanor J. Moore

August 29, 1936 — August 30, 2021

Eleanor Jane Moore, 85, of Greeley, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Greeley. Revs. Bonnie Brock and Arsene Lumami will officiate. Burial will be in the Greeley Cemetery.


Visitation will be held one hour before time of services at the church.


Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.


Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.


Eleanor was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Greeley County, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Clara (Andersen) Vanosdall. She attended Greeley County rural schools, two years of high school in Scotia and graduated from Greeley High School in 1954.


She was united in marriage to Enos Moore on June 6, 1954, at Greeley. The couple lived their entire married lives in Greeley. The first year of their marriage, Eleanor taught at a country school. Over the years she drove truck with Enos, drove school bus for 30 years and worked at the Greeley Care Home as a janitor, maintenance worker and CNA. Enos died April 1, 1993 and Eleanor retired in August 2000.


Eleanor was a member of the United Methodist Church in Greeley, served as a Greeley EMT for many years, and belonged to various clubs and bowling leagues.


She loved being outdoors, growing flowers and helping others in any way she could.


She is survived by her son, Charley F. Moore of Trumbull; daughter, Esther Fenton of Wolbach; 12 step-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian York of Buena Vista, CO and Lorraine Ogg of Grand Island; two half-sisters, Gladys Demanet of Randolph, IA and Leslie Curry of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Vanosdall of St. Paul and Martha Vanosdall of Norfolk; numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to her husband, Enos, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; infant daughter, Anne Marie; daughter-in-law, Mary E. Land; sons-in-law, Jeff Couton and James E. Fenton; six brothers and five sisters.
