Elaine Harvey

April 20, 1934 — January 14, 2022

E. Elaine Harvey, 87, of St. Paul, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, surrounded by her loving family.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Vince Parsons will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.


Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, with a 6 p.m. recitation of the Rosary.


Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Elaine Harvey was born on April 20, 1934, at Wolbach, the daughter of Dale and Emily (Janc) Jacobsen. She attended school in Wolbach through the 5th grade. The family then moved to St. Paul, where she continued her education.


She was united in marriage to Daryl L. Harvey on Feb. 17, 1951, at St. Paul. The couple lived their entire married life and raised their two children in St. Paul. Over the years, she worked at St. Paul Public Schools, Howard County Assessor’s office, and then as a CNA & Medication Aide at the Grand Island Veterans Home, Heritage Living Center, Brookefield Park and Matelyn Retirement Community.


She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and its CCW; a former St. Paul EMT; member of the St. Paul Country Club and was a charter member of the St. Paul Community Theater.


Elaine loved many things in life, including her cat “Baby”, newspaper crossword puzzles, reading, dancing, watching Young & The Restless, Law & Order: SVU, Blue Bloods and Chicago PD, and most of all, spending time with her family.


She is survived by her children, Monica Harvey of St. Paul and Clayton and Laura Harvey of Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie Anderson of Omaha, Emily and Logan Headley of Lone Jack, MO, Elizabeth and Andy Shultz Overland Park, KS, Elliott and Carli Harvey of Medford, OR and Evan Harvey of Overland Park, KS; six great-grandchildren, Sophia Sack, Ryder Anderson, William Anderson, Fletcher Headley, Finley Headley, Jameson Hawk Harvey and another soon to arrive any day; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sandy Jacobsen of Omaha, Wally Loeb of Laurel, Donna Dobish of St. Paul, Vivian Salak of Grand Island, Janet Harvey of Grand Island and Don Harvey of Aurora.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daryl Harvey of Aug. 17, 1993; brother, Dan Jacobsen; sister, Faye Ward Loeb; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Don Ward, Dick Dobish, Fred Salak, Bill and Jeanette Harvey, Russell Harvey, Marcia Harvey and Rose Harvey.
