Dorothy C. Richardson, 87, of Loup City, died Friday, April 7, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.
Dorothy chose to have her body cremated and to have no services.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is assisting the family.
Dorothy was born on Jan. 20, 1930, at Kearney, the daughter of Clarence G. and Gertrude G. (Garrett) Pierce. As a child she moved with her family to Loup City where she grew up and attended Loup City Schools. She was a 1948 graduate of Loup City High School.
She then attended Hastings College and later Bishop Clarkson Memorial School of nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Hastings College that was combined with her nursing degree from Bishop Clarkson in 1953.
She was united in marriage to Max Gerald Richardson on July 3, 1952. The couple lived on the east coast while Max was in the military. They later lived in Manhattan, KS and Wichita, KS before moving to Denver in 1960. Dorothy worked at the Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Denver for 20 years.
In 1994 she returned to Loup City, where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a member of of the former First Presbyterian Church of Loup City and was a former member of the Loup City Library Board and Sherman County Historical Society.
She is survived by a son, David Pierce Richardson of Loup City; and a grandson, Cody Maxwell Richardson of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard N. Pierce.
