Dean A. Beck, 73, of St. Paul, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Thomas Clark will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be Friday at the church from 5 to 7 p.m.
Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Beck was born on March 6, 1935, at Carter, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Lena (Adams) Beck.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of St. Paul; four daughters, Karen and Randy Syas of Elkhorn, Deb and Willard Pedersen of St. Paul, Susan Beck and Rick Hieb of Grand Island and Lori and Dan Graves of Omaha; three sons, Jim Beck and Angie Leisy of Alliance, Craig Beck and Deb Gentry of St. Paul, Minn. and Kurt and Elizabeth Beck of Omaha; three sisters, Phyllis Shurtz of Eufaula, Alabama, Helen and Sonny Rhoades and Joetta and Dan Craig, all of Orleans; four brothers, Charles and June Beck of Bartlett, IL, Clarence and Joyce Beck of Alliance, Donald and Gail Beck and Ronald Beck, all of Omaha.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Dean grew up in Orleans where he attended Orleans Public Schools.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn L. Wolzen on Dec. 19, 1954, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hendley.
The couple first lived in Orleans and later moved to Holdrege and Cozad. In 1965, the couple moved to St. Paul where they raised their family and lived the rest of their married life.
Dean enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors and he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Kenneth Beck; and a nephew, Eric Beck.
Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or Howard County Community Hospital.
