David J. Beier, 63, of Boelus died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Jonathan D. Sorensen will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Boelus.
Visitation will be one-half hour before time of service at the church.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Beier was born on Feb. 9, 1951, at Grand Island, the son of Weldon R. and Marie C. (Schlick) Beier.
He is survived by a son, Jonathan; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Pam Miller of Manhattan, KS, Carol Beier-Wear of South Hutchinson, KS, Jean and Lynn Roberts of Manhattan, KS, Sherry and John House of Nixa, MO, Trish and Randy Riley of Flower Mound, TX and Charlene and Fred Gormely of Hutchinson, KS; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mike and Margaret Beier, Steve and Lynn Beier and Dan Beier, all of Manhattan, KS and Bill Beier of Hutchinson, KS.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
David was the third oldest of a family of eleven children. He grew up in Grand Island, where he received his education.
He worked as a machinist and auto mechanic in the area, for a number of years.
He was a fisherman, gardener, hunter and historian.
He loved life, as well as, his family and beloved dog, Shorty.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Tate Beier.
