Daphne M. “Bobbe” Gordon, 94, of Omaha, formerly of St. Paul, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at Immanuel Fontenelle in Omaha.
A wake service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler, 7805 West Center Road in Omaha, with the family receiving friends from 2 – 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 Noon Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Sidney B. Bruggeman will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Bobbe was born on June 3, 1923, at Greeley, the daughter of Roderick M. and Faye H. (Maddux) Smith.
She grew up in Greeley where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1940.
She was united in marriage to William T. “Bill” Gordon on Nov. 28, 1942, in Cheyenne, WY.
The couple lived for many years in St. Paul where they owned and operated S.E. Smith and Sons Lumber Company in St. Paul, as well as, numerous other locations in Nebraska.
Bill died on March 27, 1999, and Bobbe continued to live in St. Paul until Aug. 2016, when she moved to Omaha and resided at Via Christe Assisted Living.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her children and spouses, William R. and Nancy Gordon of Indianapolis, IN, Deborah and Leonard Imes of Phoenix, AZ, James “Barney” and Nancy Gordon of Omaha and Roberta Gordon of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, Stephanie and Duncan Plymate, William, Joseph, Mary, Emily and Scott Gordon; and four great grandchildren, Thomas Gordon, Simon Plymate, William and Victoria Zmroczek.
In addition to her husband, William T. Gordon, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Judith Gordon and Victoria Gordon-Whitcomb; son, Robert Gordon; and sisters, Katherine Mackin and Janet McQuillan.
