Dallas was born on May 7, 1943, at Cotesfield, the son of Edwin and Evelyn (Maddox) Donscheski. He grew up and attended schools in the Cotesfield area and graduated from Scotia High School in 1962.

He then started trucking with his father as Donscheski & Son Trucking.

He served in the United States Army 295th Ammunition Company from March 1964 to Dec. 1969. He received the Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam War.

He was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann Hartman on Dec. 4, 1971, at Blue Hill. The couple first lived in Ayr and the next year moved to Cotesfield. In 1974, the couple moved to Elba where they raised their four children. Dallas basically drove truck his entire life. Over the years he also worked at Klinginsmith Feed Yards, worked for area farmers and was a road grader for the Howard County Roads Department.

Kathy died on Oct. 17, 2021. Dallas continued to live in Elba and drive truck the rest of his life. He also was a school bus driver for Elba Public Schools. He loved the kids and they loved him as well.

He was a 50-year member of Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul, had served on the Elba Village board and the Loup Central Landfill board, and was a longtime member of the Elba Volunteer Fire Department.

He loved playing cards, dancing, gambling, telling jokes and stories. Dallas never knew a stranger and was always willing to help out anyone!

He is survived by his children and spouses, Brent and Tabitha Donscheski of Palmer, Todd and Melissa Donscheski of St. Paul, Chad Donscheski of Cotesfield and Sara and Rusty Roy of Elba; seven grandchildren, Chandler, Connor, Reilly and Ashlyn Donscheski, Cody Donscheski, Layla Donscheski and Sawyer Roy; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Don Keep of Hewitt, TX; and sister-in-law, Doris Hartman of Blue Hill.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Albert and Mildred Hartman; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Jo Hartman, Lonnie Hartman and Rodney Hartman.
