Dale L. Friedrichsen

May 29, 1937 — July 30, 2013

Dale L. Friedrichsen, 76, of Palmer, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of Christ in Palmer. Pastor Jerry Quandt and Mikel Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the German Methodist Cemetery south of Palmer. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. Mr. Friedrichsen was born on May 29, 1937, on the family farm southeast of Palmer, the son of Laurence W. and Mildred L. (Blauhorn) Friedrichsen. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Palmer; his 99 year old mother, Mildred Scarborough of St. Paul; children and spouses, Carolyn and Steve Heuertz of Hastings, Jeff and Mary Friedrichsen of Palmer, Cheryl and Rod Kucera of Palmer and Doug Friedrichsen of St. Paul; two brothers, Donald Friedrichsen and Robert Friedrichsen, both of Palmer. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mandy Fielder, Ben and Kyla Friedrichsen, Bryan and Ericka Friedrichsen, Melissa and Daniel Butt, James Steele, Tanner Friedrichsen and Austen Friedrichsen; and three great-grandchildren, Degun Friedrichsen, Morgan Friedrichsen and Lakota Fielder. Dale grew up on the family farm and and attended District 47 Merrick County rural school. He was baptized and took catechism at the Archer EUB Church. He was united in marriage to Bonnie J. Kelley on July 15, 1956, at the EUB Church in Archer. The couple first lived and worked on the Bill Lautenschlager farm southwest of Palmer. On Jan. 1,1960, they moved to a farm south of Palmer, where they lived, farmed and raised cattle, the rest of Dale's life. He was a member of First Church of Christ, where he was presently serving on the church board and as a deacon. Dale loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending farm auctions and bull sales. He enjoyed collecting antiques, toy machinery and was a real history buff and into his family genealogy. He was preceded in death bu his father, Laurence Friedrichsen; his step-father, Harry Scarborough; and a son, Dale Gene Friedrichsen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be given to the Palmer EMT's, Fire Department of First Church of Christ.
