Cary N. Baker, 55, of Grand Island, died unexpectedly, Sunday, April 21, 2019, in Grand Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. James R. Golka will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel, with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Cary was born on May 30, 1963, in Lincoln, the son of Larry J. and Glenda E. (Krajewski) Baker.
The family lived in Lincoln until 1968, when they moved to Grand Island. He began his education at at Hall County District 3 rural school, later attending St. Mary's parochial school. He was a 1981 graduate of Grand Island Central Catholic High School.
Over the years, Cary worked at various jobs in Grand Island.
He enjoyed going fishing and recycling.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Glenda Baker of Grand Island; siblings, Curt Baker of St. Libory, Colin Baker of Lincoln, and Cassie and Chris Davis of Austin, TX; five nieces and nephews, Kayla and Richie Oltman of St. Libory, Cheyanna, Anastasia and Kingston Baker, all of Lincoln and Varian Davis of Austin, TX; and one great nephew, Easton Oltman of St. Libory.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Marie Krajewski, Joe and Sallymae Baker and step grandfather, Vern Hawkins.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
