Carroll H. Flavell, 74, of Elba, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his home, after a lengthy illness.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. The Rev. Bruce Phillips will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Flavell requested that his body be cremated.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Flavell was born on May 11, 1938, at Burwell, the son of Clyde H. and Ruth (Graham) Flavell.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Reeves on May 1, 1987, at Grand Island.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Elba; one son, Rodney Flavell of Florida; two daughters, Shana and Todd Hansen of Wolbach and Pam and Gary O'Neal of Sarah, Mississippi; and five step-children.
He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; aunts and uncles, Helen Brewer of Alda, Norma Taylor of Kearney, and Jim Graham of Burwell; 6 cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carroll grew up in Burwell and graduated from Burwell High School in 1956. He became an apprentice electrician, receiving his Nebraska electrical contractor license in 1962. He retired in 2001. Over the years he had resided in Burwell, Ogallala and St. Paul. Since 2005, he and Dorothy have lived in Elba.
He was a member of the Methodist faith; former member of the Imperial Eagles and current member of the Central City Eagles; and a former member of the Elks and Moose Lodges in Ogallala.
Fishing and boating were Carroll's passion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Flavell; sister, Marilyn Locker; step-daughter, Jerri Olson; step-son, William Joyner; and two step-grandsons, Dustin Joyner and Taylor Joyner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
