Caroline L. Davis, 93, of Ashton died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.   Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Ashton.   Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.   Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements.   Mrs. Davis was born on May 13, 1920, at Schaupps, the daughter of Thomas J. and Julia J. (Jonak) Stanczyk.   She was united in marriage to Jessie Davis on May 10, 1942, in Los Angeles, Calif. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1982.   She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Julie and Joe Skibinski of Ashton and Lana Hatcher of Lincoln; one son and daughter-in-law, William “Bill” and Sandy Davis of Lincoln; one sister and brother-in-law, Adelaide and Edmund Bandur of Omaha; one brother, Tom Stanczyk of Ashton; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Stanczyk of Ashton and Madelon Stanczyk of Lincoln.   She also leaves to cherish her memory, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Maxine Hurt of Ashton.   Caroline attended Schaupps rural school, Sherman County District No. 77 rural school and St. Francis parochial school in Ashton. Upon completing her education she moved to California, where she did housekeeping and babysitting.   After she and Jessie were married they lived in Los Angeles, Calif., Inglewood, Calif., and Ft. Bliss, Texas, while he served in the military. They later moved to Lamar, Missouri, where they farmed.   In 1950, the couple moved to a farm east of Ashton. Caroline worked at Henningsen Egg Plant in Ravenna and then at the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant in Grand Island. She also worked at several cafes in Ashton. In 1962, the couple moved into Ashton. After Jessie died, she continued to live in Ashton and did babysitting in her home.   In 2006, she moved to Westside Park in Loup City and to The Gardens Rose Lane Assisted Living in 2009.   Caroline was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and DCCW. She was a 60 year member of the Ashton American Legion Auxiliary and was named an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.   She enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidering, going places and visiting with people. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   In addition to her husband, Jessie, she was preceded in death by her parents; a step-son, Tom Grimm; two sisters, Bernadine Hanousek and Delphine Forbes; and three brothers, Edwin, Louie and Ernest Stanczyk.   Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
