Blain J. Stump, 71, of Dannebrog, died Saturday, March 23, 2019, at CHI Health Saint Francis in Grand Island.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Ken Breinig will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with graveside military honors by Mickelsen-Larkowski American Legion Post 241 of Dannebrog.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Blain was born on Jan. 6, 1948, at Gassaway, West Virginia, the son of Blain and Betty (Dobbins) Stump.
He served in the United States Army from Nov. 1967 to Oct. 1973.
He was united in marriage to Janell A. Allen on Jan. 20, 1979, at Burns Flat, OK.
Blain worked in various oil field positions for 20 years in Texas and Oklahoma, until moving to Nebraska in 1991 to work for Bosselman's in Grand Island. He worked for them for 24 years until his retirement in 2015.
Blain enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting antiques. The last years of his life he enjoyed playing with his two dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janell Stump of Dannebrog; his children and their spouses, Lawrence Stump and his friend, Renee Sommer of Arnold, Blain and Kara Stump of Hugoton, KS, Michael and Bambi Stump of Verdigris, OK and Sabrina and Bill Harders of Wood River; 13 grandchildren, Cole, Haylee, Dalton, Dylan, Brecklyn, Jayla, Morgan, Cody, Zachary, Addison, Garrett, Michael P. and Conner; one great-granddaughter, Elise; five siblings and spouses, Glenn and Teresa Stump of Oklahoma, Jeff and Delores Stump, Janice Whiting, Twilene and Homer Dahlin, and Connie Shreve, all of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Stump; and sisters, Betty Ann McHenry and Teresa Wilson.
