Betty Lou Alderman

Betty Lou Alderman, 82, of Omaha, formerly of St. Paul, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Hospice House – The Josie Harper Residence in Omaha. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Randall L. Dilts will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Alderman was born on Sept. 28, 1932, at Hardy, the daughter of Christian and Esther (Hansen) Pedersen. She is survived by her children and spouses, Alison Alderman-Dreher and Timothy Dreher of LaVista, Rebecca and Jay Molgaard of Wahoo, Jill and Kenn Anderson of LaVista, David Samsula of Omaha and Barry and Susan Samsula of Plano, TX; step-children and spouses, Sheila and Craig Reinke of Omaha, Doug and Ann Alderman of Henderson, NV, Gordon and Mary Alderman of DeSoto, TX and Bruce Alderman of McKinney, TX; and one sister, Doris Mae Maurer of Kearney. She also leaves to cherish her memory, 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Betty grew up on the family farm near Hardy, attended Hardy Public School and graduated from Hardy High School in 1950. Betty then received her teaching certificate from Kearney State College. She was united in marriage to Albert L. Samsula on April 11, 1952, at Hardy. She was a schoolteacher for 8 years, having taught in Oak, Nora, Ord and Kearney. She was united in marriage to Walter A. Alderman on March 22, 1963, in Kearney. In 1966, she and Walt purchased land north of St. Paul and operated Walt's Aerial Spraying out of their own airport. They eventually added farming and custom combining to the business and in 1983, they moved into St. Paul. Betty was a very compassionate person that enjoyed sharing her time, energy, recipes and love with everyone. She was a friend to all! In Dec. 2007, the couple moved to Omaha to be closer to their family. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church and Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119, both of St. Paul, and the Danish Brotherhood Lodge 113. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt Alderman on July 3, 2010; step-son, Dr. Mark Alderman; and four brothers, Joe, Marion, Ralph and Kenneth C. Pedersen. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
