Anthony A. “Tony” Gregoski, 69, of Elba, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at CHI Health Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. The Rev. Rayappa Konka will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Paplin.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. parish and Knights of Columbus rosary.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Mr. Gregoski was born on May 5, 1948, at Loup City, the son of Anton and Constance (Shimek) Gregoski.
Tony grew up on the family farm near Dannevirke and received his education at Elba Public Schools and graduated from Elba High School in 1966. He then worked as a farmhand for area farmers and as a bartender at the Elba Club.
He later began working at the Farmers Grain Elevator, eventually being named the manager. He continued to work there until shortly before its closing. At that time he went to work for Spilinek Irrigation where he worked until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1918 of St. Paul and was a former member of the Elba Fire Department and EMT's.
Tony enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing pinochle, farming and his cows. He loved his nieces and nephews and the daily coffee group at Charlie's Station.
He is survived by a sister, Alice Lilly of Wood River; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Emily Gregoski of St. Paul, John and Barbara Gregoski of Sanford, North Carolina and Frank and Tara Gregoski of Kearney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Bill” Gregoski, Sr., and brother-in-law, Loyd Lilly.
