Adeline Urbanski, 88, of Grand Island, NE, formerly of Loup City, NE, died Wednesday August 6, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, in Loup City, NE. The Rev Richard L. Piontkowski Jr and Rev. Marty L. Egging will concelebrate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, in Loup City, NE. Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2014, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and the Rosary Sodality leading the rosary. Peters Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Adeline was born April 25, 1926, at Loup City, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Alex and Stella (Slobaszewski) Piontkowski.
Survivors of the immediate family include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Walt Scheel of Grand Island, NE
Two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Pam Urbanski of Kearney, NE
Dave and Judy Urbanski of Kearney, NE
Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Adeline was born on the family farm north of Loup City, Nebraska. She attended Dist #41 Sherman County rural school. She lived and worked on the family farm until she married James F. Urbanski on May 24, 1948, in Loup City, NE. The couple farmed near Elyria and later in the Loup City area until moving into town in 1975. Adeline worked as a waitress and cashier at the Snack Shop and Bakery where she enjoyed the daily conversation she shared with the customers. She retired in 1999 after which she moved to Grand Island to live with her daughter. James died April 23, 1986.
Adeline loved caring for her family and especially enjoyed following her grandchildren’s school and sports activities. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to country and polka music.
She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church, its Rosary Sodality and CCW.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, and a sister Alyce Drabek.
