Adeline A. Jonak, 91, of St. Paul, formerly of Ashton, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, surrounded by her family at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Paplin.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a 4 p.m. Parish Rosary.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice, Friends of Paplin or for Masses.
Adeline was born on July 29, 1933, on a farm east of Loup City, the daughter, of Andrew and Gertrude (Krolikowski) Waskowiak. She grew up on the farm where she enjoyed helping farm with her father. She attended Schaupps country school and attended Loup City High School.
She later worked at the hotel in Loup City and at Janulewicz Creamery also in Loup City.
She was united in marriage to Reginald I. Jonak on Nov. 13, 1954, in Loup City. The couple farmed and raised their children east of Paplin.
Reginald passed away on March 12, 2005. Adeline continued to live on the farm until Feb. 2022, when she moved to Brookefield Park, where she lived the rest of her life.
Adeline was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Paplin. She loved to play BINGO, going to auctions, parades, playing cards, shopping and polka dancing with Reginald.
She tolerated her children and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons and spouses, Rose Jonak of Ord, Edward and Tamra Jonak of Loup City, Ron Jonak of Loup City, Gerald Jonak of Grand Island, Ken Jonak and Tina Sayers of Minden and Kevin and Kandi Jonak of Elm Creek; daughters and spouses, Barbara and Dave Tuma of Elba, Virginia and Ron Barth of Wakefield, KS., Donna Wardyn of Loup City, and Sandy and Rob Rucilez of Kearney; 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leona Bendykowski of Arcadia, her twin sister, Alta Mostek of Loup City; Emily Gregoski of St. Paul and JoAnn and Bernard Danczak of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Renee Jonak of Ashton; brother-in-law, Virgil Jonak of Shelley, ID.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dean Jonak; son-in-law, Dennis Wardyn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Paul Gorecki, Evelyn and Ray Gorecki, Loretta and Ed Hulinsky, Melvin Bendykowski, Clemence Mostek, Bill Gregoski; brothers-in-law, Emmanuel Jonak and Delbert Jonak; and sisters-in-law, Luana Salerno and Marilyn Jonak.
